The Journal of Emerging Dance Scholarship is a double-blind reviewed online journal published by World Dance Alliance. JEDS is designed to serve the needs of international dance scholars who are currently enrolled in a graduate program or within 5 years of having graduated from a graduate program in dance or a related field.
Deadline for submission for the fifth edition has been extended to 1 February 2017.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS — RESIDENCY PROGRAM 2017/2018
K3 – Zentrum für Choreographie | Tanzplan Hamburg
Application deadline: August 14th 2016
For the season 2017/2018, K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg is offering an eight-month residency to three emerging choreographers.
The applicants should have already created their own artistic works.
Duration of the residency is August 2017 to April 2018.
The residency includes amongst others, a monthly grant, a production budget as well as a qualifying course program.
We accept applications from all over the world and in all choreographic fields (also dance for young audience for example). There is no pre-setting or exclusion.

Information for dance practitioners, enthusiasts and fans from around the world, as well as WDAAP members, who are looking forward to World Dance Alliance Asia-Pacific’s next exciting annual event, in Seoul, South Korea, hosted by WDA-Korea:

3. The hotel nearby is Holiday Inn Seoul which will have a conference rate of US$100 with 3 beds (one roll-away bed); three people can share a room. With the conference rate, breakfast is not provided.
4. If anyone wants to book a hotel in the centre of Seoul, it is about a 35 minute bus ride to SSU. The MayPlace Hotel in the centre of Seoul is recommended. The special rate for anyone booking online directly with the hotel is around US$90 per room for two persons.
5. Conference registration will be open in mid May, US$100 for all WDA members. Please ensure your WDA membership is up to date through your country chapter before registering (e.g. Ausdance in Australia, MyDance Alliance in Malaysia etc.). There will also be facilities for payment of individual WDA membership at the conference (US$20). However, we strongly recommend that you strengthen your country’s dance networks by joining your own recognised organisation.
In 2016, the Korean chapter of World Dance Alliance Asia Pacific will host the WDAAP Annual General Meeting and surrounding activities as the event Dance Routes – Danced Roots: Connecting the Local and the Global, from 21 to 24 July 2016.

The Southeast Asian Choreolab 2016 is now open for applications. We are looking for 14 emerging choreographers from the Southeast Asian region, for a 9-day choreolab facilitated by Japanese choreographer Akiko Kitamura, 28 May – 5 June 2016.
The Choreolab aims to provide a supportive environment for participants to acquire new choreographic tools, develop regional networks with their peers, and increase their international understanding.
We are looking for emerging contemporary dance choreographers (performance artists or physical theatre creators also eligible) aged 35 or under, or who began creating professional-level work within the last five years. Citizen of and resident in an ASEAN country (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Burma/Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam) or Papua New Guinea or East Timor. Must be able to communicate functionally in English, and be excited to increase your knowledge base, share your practice and establish networks with your international peers.
The Choreolab provides accommodation, meals, local transportation and access to all Choreolab activities. The applicant must provide their own return airfare to Kuala Lumpur, insurance, and visa (if necessary).

Want to challenge yourself in dance with some of Australia’s leading practitioners? For the third year running international dance identities will ascend on the historical Federal village 30 minutes inland from Byron Bay for the annual dance event, The Corner Dance Lab 15 – 23 January 2016. Philip Channells, Creative Director of Dance Integrated Australia, and Gavin Webber, Co-director of The Farm Company, bring together an exciting line up of dance practitioners, musicians and visual artists from the local area, interstate and abroad for a practice-led dance laboratory at Jasper Corner (Federal Hall) on the NSW North Coast of Australia.
The 9-day dance lab is a skills development and performance making intensive suitable for emerging and established dance artists from diverse backgrounds, different embodiment and life experience wanting to challenge themselves physically, intellectually and artistically.
The Corner Dance Lab promotes the individual while occupying a supportive participatory environment and encourages constant dialogue and communication to feed the artist.

The fourth edition of the Journal of Emerging Dance Scholarship has extended the deadline for paper submissions until 18 January 2016. For postgraduate students and those within 5 years of finishing a doctoral or master’s degree, this is an opportunity to have your research blind-reviewed by two professional dance scholars (Linda Caldwell, Professor and Coordinator of Doctoral Studies in Dance, Texas Woman’s University, United States, and World Dance Alliance-Americas, and Urmimala Sarkar, Associate Professor, School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India, and World Dance Alliance-Asia Pacific) as you prepare for future publications. The author retains her or his copyright within this open access format.

The Showcase provides a concert platform for professional choreographers and performers, and pre-professional artists training in dance academies. The performances will take place in the theaters located in the ShangShin Univeristy or Arko Theater and will be open to registered participants of the WDAAP event and the general public.
Dance works presented may not exceed 10 minutes in length.
An international panel will consider and evaluate all submissions based on criteria in relation to the quality of the work submitted and accompanying documentation. Proposals for the Showcase will be submitted online and should comprise the following:
Applicants are responsible for all licensing agreements – music and otherwise – necessary both to post the work online for consideration and to present it. Sample work may be different from the intended showcase work but both must fall within a 10-minute (maximum) time frame.
